The Threading Course teaches you how to remove facial hair using a loop of cotton thread. No wax, heat or electrical equipment is needed.

Threading is often used to shape eyebrows and remove fine hair from the face. It gives the therapist close control, making it useful for small areas that need a clean and precise finish.

The hand movements can look simple, but good threading requires practice. You must learn how to hold the thread, control the twist and remove hair without pinching the skin.

During the class, your tutor will demonstrate each movement slowly. You will then practise your grip, hand position and thread control before working on a model.

The course is suitable for complete beginners. It may also suit brow technicians, make-up artists and beauty therapists who want to add a wax-free hair-removal option to their services.

After successful completion, you will receive a Threading Diploma. The course is accredited and insurable, subject to arranging suitable professional insurance.

How Facial Threading Works

A cotton thread is twisted and moved across the treatment area. The twist catches several hairs and removes them from the root.

Unlike waxing, threading does not require warm products to be applied to the skin. This can make it a useful option for some clients who prefer not to have facial waxing.

A full client consultation is still required. The therapist must check the skin and decide whether the treatment is suitable before starting.

Brow Shaping with Thread

Eyebrow threading is not only about removing unwanted hair. The shape must also suit the client’s natural brows and facial features.

You will learn how to assess both brows before beginning. Your tutor will show you how to clean the lower and upper brow lines while keeping the result balanced.

You will also learn how to avoid over-removing hair and how to check the shape throughout the treatment.

What should I wear?

Students attending the Threading Course in Glasgow or Aberdeen should wear a beauty tunic, scrubs or suitable all-black clothing.

Do I get a kit with the course?

The course does not include a take-home kit. The academy provides the thread, products and equipment needed during the practical class.

Can I work professionally after the course?

Yes. The Threading Diploma is accredited and insurable after successful completion. You must arrange suitable professional insurance before offering treatments.

What if I cannot find a model?

Try posting in suitable local model groups on social media. Contact the academy before the course if you are still unable to arrange a model.

Can I film the course?

You may record tutor demonstrations for personal learning with the tutor’s approval. You must also respect the privacy of other students and models.

Is threading suitable for clients who cannot have waxing?

Threading does not use wax or heat, so it may suit some clients who prefer to avoid facial waxing. A consultation is still required to confirm that treatment is suitable.

What if I change my mind or want to change courses?

The Threading Course is non-refundable. Course credit may be offered if you cancel or change your booking, subject to the academy’s booking terms.
